Q: I am curious (as is my 10-year-old nephew, who is doing a school report on the Florida Everglades) about how many people (scientists, tourists, etc.) visit the Florida Everglades yearly. Please reply -- Richard Lenihan
A: Like Marjorie Stoneman Douglas said, there's no other place like the Everglades. So it probably won't surprise you the National Park Service reports that in 1999, 1,073,982 people visited Everglades National Park. This doesn't count the people who visit other areas of the Everglades outside the park, but you get a pretty good idea of how attractive this national treasure is.
