Florida Wildlife:
Florida Guide to Nature Travel, Ecotourism and Outdoors Adventure

Wildlife watching? Florida is a good choice for your ecotourism destination if it's wildlife you have in mind. Florida's wildlife species range from large mammals like the Florida black bear and West Indian manatee to hundreds of bird species (due to Florida's location along migration paths). And when it comes to reptiles and amphibians, Florida is home to several endangered species and is also the only place in the world where you can see both alligators and crocodiles together.

Florida's diversity of habitats draws diverse wildlife. Because most of the state is a peninsula, Florida is lucky to have both saltwater and freshwater habitats, accommodating a variety of land and sea life.

We can't list every Florida wildlife species here, but if you are interested in viewing a particular one below, just click on a species name for likely viewing locations. Also, you may want to read our article on Florida's endangered wildlife species.
