plenty of places for nature travelers to explore.
Part of Ocala National Forest lies here, and Canaveral National Seashore and
Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge are 2 other national natural treasures.
The Green Swamp wilderness area east of Brooksville is the birthplace of 4
Florida rivers. And lakes seem to be everywhere.
It is here in central Florida where you'll find manatees coming in from the
cold winter ocean in the springs around Crystal River. Central Florida is also
the site of both the migratory and non-migratory flocks of endangered whooping
cranes. And dolphins are seen from the beach almost every day around Cape
Canaveral and Clearwater.
